From the Working Bee

As most of you are aware, Nature’s Wonders’ tourist route with their Argo all terrain vehicles goes right past our installation.

On one of the trips yesterday, a tourist asked the driver what all the work was, and had it explained we were installing a new power cable.

What is in the hut – host/driver  explained about radios and related things.

Tourist must have been from one of those overseas countries well behind the times because the next question was – are those workers criminals on a chain gang!!!!   It was carefully explained that despite our somewhat dubious appearance, remembering most of us were over 60 and some over 70, the work was hard and we were looking pretty haggard and exhausted, but no, we were volunteers for the radio association on a working bee!

So there – all those that attended yesterday are now labeled as “criminals”.

BB – you better check carefully the backgrounds of some-of those listed above – they might not be fit and proper people for SAR!

Lox, you appear to have some dubious characters working in your patch!

John Armstrong – you may be able to put some of these photos on the website – they give an idea of the scale of the job but with the assistance of Martin and Perry read, the back of the job is well broken. (Will do Ed.)

Cheers all

Martin Balch
